Medical Exam for Canada

The health of the applicant and the accompanying family is evaluated before a permanent residence visa is issued. If you have a health condition that could potentially endanger public health or safety, or if your condition is costly to treat, you may be deemed ineligible.

The medical examination typically includes a blood test, a chest x-ray, and general observations made by the physician.

The timing of your medical exam is determined by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada based on your visa category. It usually occurs in the final stages of your application process. At this stage, you will receive comprehensive instructions, and you will have a 30-day window to complete your medical exam.

You are responsible to book an appointment with a doctor authorised by the IRCC. When booking the appointment, inquire about what you need to bring with you. Typically, you are required to bring your passport, Profile/application Number, recent photographs, and fees.

The results of your exam will be sent directly to the visa processing office. If further examination is required, the visa processing office will notify you. You will receive a receipt from the doctor’s office that you have to upload/submit to the IRCC.
