Express Entry Profile for Canada

An Express Entry profile is an online form you fill out to express your interest in immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker. If you are eligible for any of the Express Entry Programs, you will need to fill this form to create your profile and enter the Express Entry Pool.

Express Entry pool is a collection of eligible express entry profiles, where candidates are ranked based on factors like age, education, language skills, and work experience. The highest-ranked candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

To create an Express Entry profile:

  1. Meet the eligibility criteria for one of the federal economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class.
  2. Get your language test results (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF) and Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
  3. Create an online Express Entry profile on IRCC’s website. You will need to provide information about your identity, work experience, education, language ability, skills, etc.
  4. You will receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on the information in your profile. Candidates with the highest scores are issued an ITA in regular Express Entry draws.
  5. If you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete electronic application for permanent residence.

You can improve your Express Entry Profile by doing the following:

  • Improving your language test scores
  • Gaining additional work experience
  • Completing more education or training
  • Updating personal information like age, marital status, etc.

It is important to note that the Express Entry Profile automatically expires after 12 months, in case an Invitation to Apply has not been issued till then. You will need to create a fresh profile after the expiry of 12 months in case you are still eligible and want to pursue express entry to Canada.

Updating your profile does not change the date of submission. This means that you may update your profile whenever you have new information and will not lose your position in a tie-breaker situation. This also means that the profile will expire after 12 months of its submission even if you keep updating it.
